چکیده

The time-independent one-speed neutron transport equation for media with sphericallysymmetric invariance properties and an isotropic scattering law is discussed. The analysis allowsfor isotropic internal emission, and emphasis is placed on the treatment of neutrons incident onthe free surface of a finite spherical medium. Production of [18F] fluoride with a high-current two layer spherical gold target

Background: Fluoride-18 is the most widely used radioisotope for Positron Emission Tomography (PET). [18F] 2-flouro- 2-deoxy D-glucose (FDG) has become a standard tool in the area of clinical research. The oxygen-18 enriched water is the most widely used target for the production of fluoride-18. The use of the nuclear reaction 18O (p,n)18F has been found as the most effective method for the pro...

Shielding studies on a total-body neutron activation facility

Background: Prompt gamma neutron activation analysis (PGNAA) is known as a non-invasive technique capable of measuring elemental concentration in voluminous samples in a short period of time. Also it is a valuable diagnostic tool for total body elemental measurements. 252Cf and 241Am-Be sources which are usually used in this method, generate not only neutrons, but also emit high-energy and unwa...

Effect of Radiation Heat Loss and Ventilation on Dust Explosions in Spherical Vessels

The flame propagation through a coal dust-air mixture in a spherical vessel was studied by means of a one-dimensional, Arrhenius-type kinetics and quasi-steady model. The model includes the evaporation of the volatile matter of dust particles into a known gaseous fuel (methane) and the single-stage reaction of the gas-phase combustion. Effect of venting devices as safety idea and the radiation ...

Dosimetry of 188Re and 186Re sources based on Monte Carlo calculations for endovascular brachytherapy after balloon angioplasty

Background: Recent pre-clinical and clinical studies indicate that irradiation in the dose range of 15 to 30 Gy can reduce rate of restenosis in patients who have undergone an angioplasty. The use of filled balloon with radioactive solution was proposed as one of the possible intravascular irradiation techniques. Materials and Methods: The Monte Carlo N-particle Transport Code (MCNP4b) was used...

A Computer Modeling of Mie-Scattering by Spherical Droplets Within the Atmosphere

The Earth’s atmosphere is an environment replete with particles of differ-ent sizes with various refractive indices which affect the light radiation traveling through it. The Mie scattering theory is one of the well-known light scattering techniques ap-plicable to modeling of electromagnetic scattering from tiny atmospheric particles or aerosols floating in the air or within the clouds. In this...
